Sunset Over the Rocks is awesome, anyone got the high res one? it would make a good dual screen wallpaper.

Calm ftw! Really like that photo
why thankyou. It makes a good wallpaper on a 17" or 19" screen if you want the fullsize.

I voted for tthe Egret because I think the framing and focussing is spot on - the others are really good too - well done all!

So well done.
Second place overall and winning "active" member is Mr Grapes. Personally, my favourite entry too.
So now need a topic for the next comp! :D

Thanks for the votes :)
For the next competition I'd like to suggest "Water".
This will allow the shooter to choose the format of the water - still or running, fresh or saltwater, macro or landscape. Alternatively, go left of field and interpret the theme in a different way. As with the current comp, it will be good if the photographer can say a few words about the photo.

thanks for the surge in votes :) looked like it was going to be a (black and)whitewash for a while there...
especially pleased as that shot was a last minute change of plan. I was going to use an shot of the needles from my day trip to the fair isle, but the egret jumped out as a perfect candidate as i was doing a quick final pass.
Details on the shot:
Pentax K100D with a manual focus 80-210mm lens (cost me nothing... perma loan from the Father-in-law's film pentax setup that he never uses anymore!)
Quite high ISO (800 from memory) as it was the start of the day and I'd left it there from the previous night.. :( minor adjustments in paint.net to saturation and contrast - not quite fully de-saturated - the colour of the rusty beams still shows a little at the top.
slight crop from original. total of about 10 mins of adjustments. tbh, it didn't need much doing to it.
Congrats to bluebox, that was a worthy contender :) a very striking shot.
