If you have a USB DVBT Freeview tuner and it is not picking up any channels when scanning below is a few things to try.

Update the drivers and PVR software. Updates can be downloaded from the manufacturers websites.

Freecom - http://www.freecom.com

Winfast / Leadtek - http://www.leadtek.com

MSI - http://www.msi.com.tw

Install all available windows updates.

http://www.windowsupdate.com

Uninstall and reinstall the software and drivers.

When installing the PVR software leave the region as "unknown" rather than selecting the area you are in.

Are you in a Freeview area? You can check this using your post code here, http://www.freeview.co.uk.

The above steps may also solve other problems such as stability issues and capture problems.

If none of the above solves the problem please contact technical support for a returns number.

You may find that some TV cards have a lot of different hardware elements that require individual drivers.

A Hauppage TV card will return errors on the driver files :

HCWTVWND.dll

HCWCHAN.dll

You need to make sure that you have completed all of the 'New Hardware Wizard' dialogs, although it will say that the hardware is ready to use throughout installation, Windows is referring to each element and not that the TV card as a whole is now ready to scan for channels.

It is good practice to restart the computer after installation.

For DVB (FreeView) you tend to need a RoofTop Ariel in the Portsmouth region.
The small ariels supplied with are not up to much.
With a Hauppauge Nova T Stick, I found that I needed an Ariel Booster with XP but the same machine upgraded to Vista did not require the Booster

Try an arieal booster as suggested and if you have a laptop first of all try taking it to a friends place and see if you can pick up a signal there! A roof mounted area will always give the best signal but in some places you might need this to be updated!

If all else fails, try the card on an alternative machine to see if it might actually be faulty!
