Just wanted to check I install my new memory correct. I have a Novatech PC (with a 1GB stick in it already) and have bought a matching stick. (DDR400/PC3200/1GB)

I have a Foxconn 6150K8MD motherboard - Looking at the manual I am confused as to which slot it is supposed to go in. I guess (but its not clear to me) that its DIMM3 (DIMM1 has the current 1GB) but would like to know the real answer before I bung it in!

Thanks
Ben

The memory will work in any slot.
However to take advantage of Dual Channel now that you have two sticks you must populate correctly as per manual

So for Dual Channel please populate

1 and 2 or 3 and 4.

So if you have one stick in slot 1 please populate slot 2 with your new stick.

Thanks for the info. It installed fine (BIOS now reads 2GB) and works well as far as I can tell.

However my wife (who uses the PC most) reports that there is a constant (quite loud) clicking sound through the speakers now when they are on and it wasn't like that before the memory was installed.

Can you think of any relation between the memory and a sound?

I will have a look inside and check the connections and wires arn't too close (to the memory or anything else) etc but wondered if you had any ideas?

thanks

Ben
