Hi all,
Has anyone had experience folding these cards yet. I see AMY has got a GTX470,is there any chance you could try it, or do we have to wait for the GPU3 folding client first. Any info would be very helpful.
Thanks in advance,

it would be best to wait for the gpu3 client to come out as it is in testing now. with it you shall see big gains from nivida cards. ati currently are helping to develop it for there cards.

I was thinking on those line, but I hoped I could speed thinks up a bit. As you can see I'm getting a little inpatient. I'll just have to wait a bit longer. My GPUs are proving to be a bottle neck.

I don't see why waiting for GPU3 is a good idea, it'll fold like a bat out of **** with the clients out now won't it ? I shall be getting one if/when a water cooled version is available, I can't stand the racket of stock coolers & where as it is one thing to invalidate the warranty by replacing the cooler on a card costing around £150 I don't fancy doing so on one costing £400+

Hi 146 Kilos,
See thread started by Amy titled HOW QUICK, about 5 down from here back on the main seti/folding forum, read post#2.

"They say ~14k for a 470 and ~17k for a 480, although there are said to be several major bugs with folding on the 4xx range with the GPU2 client, and they are said to be ironed out in the GPU3 client."

Reading this is what made me think, I'm just as well wait for the GPU3 client.

Cheers,

GPU3
There are new Nvidia drivers out, the Viewer now works again
But it is still 2K/Day down on GPU2 for a 260 :td:

Maybe it'll rock on a 480 ?

Hi 146Kilos,
I'm about 2K a day down at the moment, seems to be a combo of bad WU's,Stanford servers down when sending, sometimes ca'nt get work etc. This week has been a nightmare. I imagine it's the same for everyone. Thanks for the driver info.

No, it is nowt to do with the servers. Just fire up GPU 2 or 3 for 20 mins & note the PPD difference in HFM

Hi,
I've never had the GPU3 client as I stated before I'm going to wait until I get a GTX4** before I use the GPU3, or even download & install it. How you got the idea I was using the GPU3 client I don't know. I did say it would be best to wait until the GPU3 was sorted/improved before upgrading to a GTX4**. As I think they will work better together.
PS. Most of my lost points & Stanford server issues are SMP2 related.
Cheers,
