Hi there

I have just bought a Novatech PC and have installed Windows XP.

It detects 5 devices during boot and they appear in Device Manager with the yellow conflict logo. The listed devices with conflicts are:
ethernet controller
PCI device
SM bus controller
unknown device
video controller (VGA Composite)

In different combinations, I have tried to
update the drivers
delete the devices
boot and then redetect them (using Add New Hardware).

How can I resolve the conflicts and have the devices up and running?

It always finds the 5 devices as above but for drivers it scans the WinFast/Foxconn CD supplied but can't find the drivers.

I have also tried manual install from the setup programs on the CD.

It can't download the newest drivers, I need ethernet working for that!

Any tips much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Do not scan the CD this will not work.

Please load the CD and from the CD Menu select the drivers to install.

You need to install the Drivers using there proper setup.exe files or they will not install properly. Just scanning for them will not implement the driver correctly.

You should have no issues installing from CD if you select from the CD Menu. The drivers that are missing are the Chipset Drivers which should be done first. You will then need to install the LAN, Audio, Graphics after this.

Which PC have you bought so we can see exactly what model you have??

I have been using the WRONG CD!

Thanks for the tips, I am now making progress.

Both CDs say "Foxconn core series motherboard" - the wrong one is green, the correct one is blue...

Cheers
