Ok, if you work in IT, if you had free reign to change any aspect of you job what would it be??

1) dont say more money, we would all want that! 2) dont slag off your boss or anyone else 3) dont say anything that might get you into trouble, as this is internetland you might get found out if you list your name or company, so be descreet, but Im sure most people are sensible!!

could be get your work to use open source apps, change certain procedures, etc....

ok, would keep the money but reduce my working hours to about 15 mins a week.

or less.

if you want a sensible answer, i'd ban all politics - they only seem to get in the way these days, and enforce honesty 'oh yeah, i used to have visio on my pc before you rebuilt it springs to mind...'

You have my vote.

People try to work. Politicians tax people and make their job harder. Also i'd punish stupidity. It seems these days stupidity is rewarded. I'd ban those no win no fee solicitors also. If you have a good case then you can pay because if you're case is strong and honest then you most likely won't lose.

stop directors from buying stuff without asking IT depts, then asking us to support it

use a different way of storing long term mail in MS outlook as the .PST file system is terrible and corrupts files constantly. (bosses Ive worked with before wont believe me on this)

stop colleague from being slackers, esp bone idle people who get away with doing nothing as they play golf with one of the managers.

use some freeware apps. ie: use a simple free PDF maker that works as a printer driver, rather buy a commercial app that does the same thing.
