Is it safe to enter a cards details to purchase a game on Steam ?
There is no padlock on show & none of the other usual checks indicate it is secure.

I have done it many times, I'm pretty sure there was a padlock somewhere though. It's safe anyway, many many people use it ( no I wouldn't jump off a cliff if others did it ;) )

Edit: Just checked and when you go to checkout the URL begins with HTTPS:// so its secure :)

I looked at the first screen where you enter your details & bottled it.

Steam is secure however you should only really buy games when they are on-sale (weekend deals\mid-week deals) and make sure you look at the reviews and metascores before you buy a game. Steam is very much safe to use and is protected, make sure you buy via the steam-client-application too.
