software that doesnt uninstall properly

anyone have suggestions of free applications that remove software that doesnt uninstall cleanly?

It depends what sort of software you are talking about and what operating system you are using. Presuming that you are using windows, if the `uninstall` option fails or performs uncleanly then the chances are that you will have to do a manual delete of files and folders associated with the program, followed by a registry clean.
Cleaning the registry is a nightmare, you can usually remove a large amount of values associated with the poorly uninstalled software but it is very hard to trace them all. I also warn about the dangers of editing the registry, it is the backbone of the windows operating system and if you make a mess of it, at worse, the whole lot can fail! Proceed with caution...

one thing I forgot....
make sure you back up the registry and are confident with putting the OS back together before you do anything. Unless this software is causing a major problem, I'd leave it!!!
