is there a laptop / server compatibility matrix anywhere against linux O/S installs on the novatech systems?
If not, it may be a good idea to get one together with successes at installing drivers for the likes of wifi / webcam / card readers etc.

Great forum btw - been really helpful, now I've just got to choose between the E16 and V14.

Hi slacker - welcome to the forums

There isn't a matrix as such as we officially don't support Linux as an OS (at the moment) - although we do try and help here.

If we do start supporting Linux officially the first thing that'll appear is such a matrix.

Yes - I looked at the operating systems you sell - 20 variations on windows :)

Yes indeed :). But you never know - that may change at some point (not that I have any control what-so-ever over that :))

Thank you for that, it is much appreciated!
I purchase Novatech on principle, simply because it is available without Windows, a bit negative but it increases Novatech sales figures.
I have a number of requests from friends for Ubuntu compatible hardware, but while I can sort non Ubuntu compatibility for myself, I cannot be sure to do that for my friends. If Novatech simply provided drivers as appropriate, if required, for Ubuntu functionality on named hardware, then judging by the previous 12 months, (associated with me), sales would have risen by about 400%.
By the way, how *is* the recession going?

We've had a number of PCs and servers from novaTech now and have installed Ubuntu on all of them without any problems at all.
Ubuntu has excellent hardware support these days, so the days when you were having to find driver source code and compile it etc are long gone.

From our experience most of the systems on the NovaTech site will be fine running Ubuntu Linux.
