Wireless ADSL speed problem

Just bought a Maxfire laptop and I'm very pleased with it. I also bought a Novatech ADSL Wireless Router (Addon) and although I'm connecting I cannot get my 1.1Mbs connection above 450kbps. Any ideas?

This happens to mine, have you tried to move the router away from walls, floors, metal things (eg filing cabinets)

You can get a part for the router that points to where you want the wireless connection to go, instead of everywhere

It's against an outside wall at the moment as the phone point is there. The cable they give you with the modem is not long enough to locate it anywhere else unfortunately.

Got it to run faster last night, up to about 800kbps. I have a wireless transmitter for beaming Sky around the house and found out it was interupting the signal. Once it was switched off, speed and connection were better :D

Have you tried setting your router to use another channel as this may help cut out interference from other devices.
Please make sure firmware for your router is also up to date.
