will readyboost have an effect even if i dont use all my ram?
My programs still take a second or too to load, so would maybe 4/8gb of ready boost.

Depends....For lots of little small files it will be fast, but unless you have a fast flash drive it will struggle on big files.
The idea of it was for people who didn't have enough ram. If you want faster loading times buy a SSD

Well this is the thing. They may be quick but memory is quicker. People should moan at microsoft. You should be able to add an extra gig of ram and use that instead of these pathetic memory sticks. The fast memory sticks are no where near as fast as ram, and with 2gig of ddr800 going for £40 these days you could have a lightning fast ramdrive.
btw, you can't make webpages load faster or firefox start quicker. Firefox is slow to load because firefox is slow. It's a massive chunky program with **** loads of initialization code. Same goes for office 2007 etc.
Web pages come straight down the line and are written directly to your ram by your NIC.

Firefox is just slow. It's bulky. It's not that slow though. I can run it on my laptop @ 800mhz in power saving mode. You're moaning about nothing tbh. If you don't like the loading times leave it open.

From what I remember reading readyboost was for people who didn't have much ram. It will help you with nothing. It's rubbish anyway.
