My laptop model is the Crossfire II AMD64 3400.

Ok today while playing World of Warcraft, a few times the screen went black for about 10 seconds, then would go back to normal. after about 3 times, the game finally crashed without an error message and was unable to run any 3d programs even after i restarted the computer. The message i got in windows was to make sure i had directx 9.0c (which i do) and to also make sure i have the latest graphics card drivers (i have the 6.3 catalyst for mobile 9700 radeon).

The only way i could resolve it was to turn off my laptop for about 10 mins and reboot.

Just curious if anyone could shed some light on this problem, its one ive not encountered before. I have made sure the laptop is kept cool while i am playing, so im sure its not a heat problem, and have kept the graphics settings to and average standard so i havent pushed it too hard.

Thanks
Chris

Prob a heat problem

Try and keep it well ventilated, in a cool space, i recommend a fridge :D

Well, its just happened again, and my room is basically like a fridge at the moment, window wide open and i have my jacket on, not the kind of playing experience i was hoping for.

MBM reports good cool GPU and CPU temps...

im stuck :P

EDIT: Plus when i chose this model i specifically asked the nice gentleman in-store whether this model would be able to sustain hours of gameplay, as this is what i need before i relocate to france in 1 weeks time. He assured me that this was a great model, and would be fine.

I am very familiar with desktop Pc's, but this is my first notebook, so needed the advice. And IF it is a heat problem, after having it for 2 days, i really am not happy. I am not putting any severe stress on the system, and expect a radeon 9700 to cope with the settings i am running at.

I bought this laptop with one thing in mind : I am going to work for Blizzard, so i need a laptop that can run WOW on low-med settings for long periods of time..
So far it hasnt coped on low settings for more than 4 hrs..
Running non-battery power by the way, dont know if that makes a difference.

not too sure here, your graphics card should be able to run this easily, and if some1 else has same spec and runs cod2 on it, gotta be something, but one thing i dont know is this cos cod2 runs at either directx7 or directx9 where wow i believe is directx9 only.

if you have checked heating and it seems to be ok, maybe a graphics driver problem, what driver u using
