View Full Version : Odd graphic behaviour

Hello all.

I recently recieved my new Radeon X1950 512mb card, which is making my games look all shiney and new again. But as of late I've started to notice a strange thing, it looks like a snow effect blowing across the screen from left to right. At first I thought it was an in game weather effect, but then it dawned on me " It doesnt snow in the Jungle".

Since then ive played with the graphic settings, resolution settings and even reinstalled the card but to no avail. The problem still persists. The snowy effect doesnt cover the HUD if im playing an RTS, it only seems to exist in the game window when looking down on buildings and troops, when I zoom into close to a building the snowy effect is no longer there, but as soon as I pan out or move the camera off the side of a building it starts up again.

Could some one please help me out or point me in the correct direction so that I can enjoy my gaming as it should be.

Many thanks in advance Dave.

Heres a pic to show the snowy effect better than I can describe. Ive circled around them to make them easier to pick up, they look like small pixels flying across the screen.

that sounds to me like a heat problem.
download a tool called "ati tool" and check your temps, or do it through the catalyst control centre

Ok noob time now.

I cant seem to locate the temp option with the Catalyst control center, and when I use ATITool if I click on either Find max core or find max mem it crashes my system, and i need to do a hard reboot to get it back up and running. The Max core gives me a blank screen, whilst the Max mem gives me a pale blue screen ( not the blue screen of death ).

Im a bit new to tweaking graphics in my computer, kinda need a helping hand on where I need to be looking to find out the card temp.

Thanks in advance

Dave

no no no no no
dont find the max core or max mem!!!!
just find out the temperature

start ati tool then minimise it, then it should display the temp in your toolbar

When I minimise the ATItool it doesnt give me the temp even with a game running, and the Catalyst contol panel is saying my temp is at 0 degrees

sounds like you have a broken sensor on your card
the temperature bit should appear at the bottom like this
and mine is between my internet and avg symbols

the 2 by the clock are the cpu temperature monitors (core temp)
