I have an am2 athlon 64 4000+x2 dual core.

at 2.6ghz per core (standard 2.1ghz) i can safely opperate my system perfectly. in bios where you overclock it was at 200mhz standard but with 2.6ghz it was around 220mhz. it says it goes up to 400mhz so what would you recomend the max amount that i put it up?

2.1ghz = 200mhz
2.6ghz = 220-225mhz
3ghz per core?? would that be wise

there is no set answer for this
what temps are you getting now??
what cooling do you have in place??
what memory do you have??

Be advisable to get a better hsf if you intend to push it further! Not sure how far those chips go!

Well one of my friends has the same amd chip as me and at 2.6ghz his temp was about 50 degrees!! and with his motherboard he cant push the chip anymore however i can go much further than he can.

Oh and when mine was at 2.6ghz it was much cooler as it was at about 35ish
