Hmmm it was all 1920 x 1080 when I replied. I shall speak with the Purchasing department again and find out what's going on
Its looks to be 1920x1200. have checked various sites.

Don't let that put you off, I saw the previous HannsG model running in the shop and it's a fine bit of kit, I assume it's the new next model as the price has risen also iirc.

Dell is normally a rebranded Sony unit and the prices reflect that normally, I have a HPw2207 and although it's not a full HD monitor it's very stylish and solidly built, must be 2-3 years old now, sadly I got the lust for it in the shop about 4 mths before they launched the same model with HDMi, always found iiyama pretty good as well.

Dell have always made their own monitors, panels have always been LG's IPS, Sony does not make monitor panels. prices are very cheap for the quality they provide, any better you'd be paying over thousands for the hardware LUT provided by Eizo professional monitors.
120Hz is just marketing, there is hardly any advantage for buying 120Hz monitor. also, largest 120Hz monitor is 24inch at the moment, so i am 100% sure this 28inch monitor is 60Hz.

Yes it seems you are correct, my info was from a family member that worked for Marconi, but that was some years ago, my own search threw up Samsumg also, I can recommend Samsung hand over fist and it's one of the first brands I look at for anything.

oh yes, now that you mention it, one of my 19 inch is an old Dell, PVA panel, which is Samsung technology.

i take it this is the upgraded replacement monitor :-

is it also a Samgung base screen, and what's the Hz speed on this, as it say it can easily do 3D graphics for gaming

They are normally produced by TPV actually :P

i doubt current high end IPS panels are by them. IPS is an LG technology. and i know my U2711 is put together in Netherland, in a Dell facility. low end Dell P series or lower TN panels may be produced by AOC, owned by TPV.
Nigel, i think by 3D gaming, it doesn't mean glass 3D, those require 120Hz monitors. largest 120Hz monitor is currently 24inch.

TPV do not make panels they make monitors for people like Dell HP etc etc, all panels are bought in from samsung, cpt, auo, cmo etc
