Hello
Ive currently got vista installed but i want to go and buy a raptor 10,00rpm hard drive to put in my pc aswell. On this ill install vista and my games. Can this be safely done etc or is my license tied to my current hard drive. Ive the the vista disk and license key.

you can install Vista to my knowledge on to your PC as many times as you like. you bought the license to use it for whatever purposes you wish (legally!)
it wont affect the hard drive whatsoever and it isn't tied to one hard drive :)
Go for it!
though someone correct me if im wrong!

vista is tied to the motherboard, thats what ive heard
You can reinstall onto the same hardware as many times as you want, but to install again on another system and activate it shouldnt be done!

depends if youre retail or oem.
If you're oem, you can re-install a few times, but hardware changes will add 'points' to your license, and when you use too many your windows locks.
so basically you can, but watch out how much hardware you change (someone changed HDD and gfx card and lost there windows)!

thats the disk pack, which doesnt have the retail box. Retail you can use as much as you like, OEM is 1 pc only.

you can ring microsoft, and say you got a virus, then you have the re-activation key, but it wont always work.

Not strictly true tbh you can transfer your xp if your upgrade your hardware you just have to go through an automated phone call to get the new code the system is floored if you answer the questions properly even if you lie it will still reactivate your xp, I had an old emachines that came with xp and that code is currently being used on my sons pc lol
