Hi All,
It appears as if someone is messing with my # of active clients. I only use 1smp NO gpu client at all, for over a year now. Where it states 2 active clients, it should only read 1. It looks as if someone has used my screen name twice for the last two weeks to configure there GPU client, after doing 1 very small wu they change it back to there own name for 7-8 days. Please keep looking at the stats for a while at http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_summary.php?s=&t=91717
The value of the wu's must only be small as I have not seen any extra points, this is not to concerning but I like to think I've earned all my own points, this bugs me more than the # of active clients. If the person concerned wishes to continue with this dirty trick, could they learn how to increase my clients without adding the points, if this is what the small minded person wants to achieve.
Before anyone suggests this maybe Stanford mistake, I've checked by reading through there forum & it does not appear so, nor have I made any changes such as machine#.
Please can someone check the stats at the above link & give there thoughts on this issue, I would just like the team to see it for themselves.
Many thanks,
Erphy100.
P.S. This may not even be a Novatech folding member, I would not think so anyway. I just hope they get to read this.

What is a passkey?
The passkey, a new feature beginning with the v6.0 FAH client, is a unique identifier that ties your contributions directly to you (not just those with your username). The use of a passkey prevents others from cheating using your name. Obtain a passkey from our web site (see below), enter it when you configure the client, and the client and servers will do the rest. You should keep your passkey secret.
Note: The CPU, SMP, and GPU clients support the use of a passkey, in both the command line and grahpical client versions. The PS3 client does not use a passkey, but we plan to add that option in the future.
What is the purpose of a passkey?
Previously we did not have unique identifiers in Folding@home (usernames for example can be shared by many people). One main benefit of passkeys is that if someone cheats, we will not need to zero out the points of everyone with that username -- only the offending party and those without passkeys. Perhaps more interestingly, we have instituted a bonus points program, which will be tied to passkeys. Finally, the existence of passkeys opens up future possibility of displaying your individual credit and other information, rather than just by username.
Where can I get a passkey?
http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/getpasskey.py
Note: The passkey request form is case sensitive.
Presumably if you enter a key, entries without the key will be ignored. I have doubts though.

Hi 146 Kilos,
Does this mean if someone keeps useing the same passkey on there gpu client & I contact Stanford they can trace who's doing this or if it's a mistake on there part.
Sorry for the double post.
Thanks in advance,
erphy.

The value of the wu's are only 494 & 353 points, this is not to concerning but I like to think I've earned all my own points, this bugs me more than the # of active clients. If the person concerned wishes to continue with this dirty trick, could they learn how to increase my clients without adding the points, if this is what the small minded person wants to achieve.

Same thing here, maybe it is just a new client downloaded and it is seen as an additional one ?

Hi 146Kilos,
Please can you post your last comment above on the Folding@home support forum, as they don't take a blind bit of notice of me, just argue theres nothing wrong there end & accuse me of altering machine#s. http://foldingforum.org/ They have proved its not GPU related, its SMP.
I've posted it in, (Discussions of General-FAH topics) (Active clients.)
Cheers,
erphy100.
PS. Also have a read of this.
Thread, (Significant point reductions for SMP work units) its under (SMP2 with passkey V6.34Beta [Not Bigadv]. Same forum as above.

I don't suppose they will take any more notice of me than you.
I have been running 6 clients, like heck I have.
I have been dabbling with V7 though, a doddle to run SMP now. It still doesn't add up to 6 clients though.
I get <1K PPD off my 8200 (no bonus) and so any loss is negligible, in fact it isn't worth running. I feel the need, the need for I7.
