Is it true that you can only use directx 10 on vista? So if i buy a dx10 card like a 8800gt and use it with XP i wont be able to use the dx10 features? Only the dx9 ones? So may was well get a cheaper dx9 card...
Thanks.

No u cant use dx10 on xp but the dx10 cards are generally better performers so i would still get a dx10 card buddy! 8800gt would be the only card i'd buy right now

people are working on it as we speak, but seeing that DX10 games arent even out yet, its hard to properly test it
It would be slower on XP though

Although you can't utilise DX10 (properly) without Windows Vista, it is generally noted that because of the way DX10 ready graphics cards work, they are more efficient than their DX9 cousins.
This is because of the Unified Architecture, where the Stream Processors can work on any kind of task, meaning that none of the cards capabilities are being left to waste. Also, the 8800 series has recieved much acclaim for value and performance, especially since the release of the 8800GT

most likely only in the same way you couldn't run dx4 on Windows NT :D eventually some kind of hacked version will come out but we'll be up and running dx11 by then anyway.
