I have bought 2 iFlame pro PCs with Windows Pro installed. I am trying to set them up for use in the offices of a pre shcool, after school club & soft play centre. As such the network for the PCs needs to be secure as it'll be used to store details of the kids & their parents. I am setting this up at home first to get it all working then will be transfering to the office once done. I'm a novice! I'm having real trouble getting roaming profiles working. I want to set it up so that one of the PCs has the profiles and anyone of the users can log into that master PC. The next person who is in the office can log onto the second PC via their roaming profile. I have managed get roaming profiles working on the master PC (for built in administrator & users) but the slave PC can't find the roaming profiles for the users (built in administrator account on slave is roaming & working fine) so uses local profiles instead. The profiles on the slave PC are listed as roaming but the status is local. I have fiddled lots with the sharing & security of the roaming profiles folder to get this far. I have added creator owner, system, administrator & everyone to the sharing and given them all full control for now with the idea that I'd be able to curtail some of the permissions once it is working.
I am running AVG internet security 2011 and windows firewall is disabled. At home the PCs are connected via cables to a BT home hub (this will be cables and a BT business hub) on site. I have tried running with both firewalls disabled (& the hub disconnected from the phone line) but that doesn't fix it.
Does anyone know what steps are needed from a clean install to get this set up working? I want to get it working but without compromising security any more than necessary. The hub at the offices is used for public wi-fi access so I think I need to set the network up as 'public' and I was also going to try to disable the wireless adapter in each PC. Is this the right thing to do?
Any help or advice much appreciated.
Thanks.
