Hey, I've come over here because tbh I'm a bit fed up of my gaming rig, and contemplating selling up. Only one problem in that I don't know how much it's all worth... wondering if anyone can give me some assistance if I post up the specs? Found it a bit much when I bought 2 games and had to spend several hours updating one of them to the latest patch (and I still can't get the single player to work), the other refused to run at all due to "side by side" configuration. Googled the problem and couldn't resolve it myself. Frustration was an understatement... rare for me to buy games then get 2 which are a pain, 1 totally not playable!

Hello, and welcome.
Just out of interest, what are the games you bought?

Call of Duty World At War (can play the mp) & Battlefield Bad Company 2 (side by side configuration). Could you put an approx value on my rig if I post up the specs too? It would be most highly appreciated :).

What's happened on this forum to make it go so quiet? I see many of the top posters are now inactive. I do recall when I first ever looked at this forum that there was hundreds and hundreds of new posts on a daily basis it wasn't practical to keep up with them all. Now, I just see tumbleweed. Anyone share the story?

How can anyone answer you if they don't know what you want to sell mate, twice you've asked if, if you want an answer then list it up and don't be surprised if the answer is £40 if the PC is old.

Somewhere between £150 and £250 I would think.
I know it probably stacks up a lot more than that to buy but electrics are electrics and second hand they are a liability, you may get more breaking it up, the processor, psu and memory being the most desirable items.
And should you sell the HDD now is the time to do so, but remember to give it a military grade format before you do unless you want all your info to still be readable.
Breaking it down I see it @ £220
Processor: AMD Phenom 9850 2.5Ghz Black Edition Quad Core Processor £50
Motherboard: Asus M3a79-T Deluxe Motherboard £30
RAM: Corsair XMS2 PC6400 800Mhz DDR2 Memory (2 x 2Gb / 2048Mb) £20
Hard Drive: Western Digital 500Gb Hard Drive £40
PSU: Corsair TX 850W ATX2.2 SLI Compliant Power Supply Unit £40
Graphics Card: HiS ATi 4870X2 £20
Other: Coolermaster Musketeer ?
Case: Generic Case £10
Optical Drives: DVD-RW Optical Drive £10

Selling old hardware is always disappointing. I have given up on selling kit on eBay. I try to re-purpose them, it feels better some how. My family normally benefit from my cast off's. I have a Linux PC and a torrent box. My daughter has a nice free computer from the spares bin...

MustHaveItToday:
Appreciate you're valuation on the items, but tbh I think I'm going to be taking it with a pinch of salt. I've bought the 4870X2 not long ago from eBay, where the going rate is about £70. If you can find someone who will sell me their 4870X2 for £20 then please, by all means PM me a link (card must be fully working I might add). As for complaining I hadn't put the specs up, I had asked if anyone was willing to value it. I know on another forum that valuations etc are not allowed until certain criteria is met, I didn't know if it become the same over here. Adding to that, no one is forthcoming as to why this place is now has so few posts being made daily or why many of the more seasoned members are now inactive.

I understand what you are saying, although the only part I could really recycle would be converting the hard drive into an external. Got myself a laptop for most things.

Just going on the fact that your card isn't for sale anymore and better models can be had for the £70 you say, I actually think I over valued it, memory is cheap right now and iirc yours can be had brand new for £30.
I didn't mean to insult you with any of it, but you asked and I was the only one who answered, look at brand new barebones if you don't believe me, who is going to give you an estimated £300 - £400 for a SH pc when they can get newer and better for the same or less.

If you mean you have 2 GC's then it's £20 each, and the memory is £41 brand new and only because it's getting harder to find, so who will pay ££41 for 800 mhz when they can pay £30 for 1600mhz

Basics are you buy you use and if you want to sell you have been passed by by technology and also the fact used is a gamble, by all mean market it at what you have in mind, you may get a mug on the hook, but myself I wouldn't want to pay anymore than £100, if you can get £200 you will be doing well.

It's what the going rate is on eBay. Something is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it. The memory I don't contest, that I'd say you were about right on. It was just the fact you seemed to think that a 4870X2 (Single Card) was worth £20. As said previously, if you can find someone who will sell one that cheap, in fully working condition, then please PM me.

A comparison between that and a 4870X2 sees the 4870X2 better at the majority, power consumption being the only downfall (understandable).

I can accept that things depreciate, that isn't the issue. More so that you put such a low estimation on the equipment.
Also: still no explanation to why this forum is pretty much dead.

Dead forum: just search the forum for 'forum death'
As for the 4870 x 2 they are still kinda available @ £329 for a 2gb flavour.

ALthough you'd have to be completely crazy to buy one as they are pretty out dated now, nice cards at the time.
Unfortunalty other than the PSU the rest is such old tech now and its unlikely that anyone will give you a great deal for any of the pieces. I'd say Musthaveittoday is pretty close to the mark.
Also you asked the question and Musthaveittoday was kind enough to give you his opinion, why not just say thanks and move on instead of arguing?
