Hello forum people of Novatech!

Im building my first gaming PC for a number of years and really just need a little advice. I have spent the last few weeks trying to put a spec together and think I am pretty close, but would appreciate any advice I can get from you (who I'm certain have a lot more experience then me).

I'm hoping for a medium/high system that can play games such as BF3, Skyrim and pretty much everything at high / ultra settings.

CPU: 2nd Generation Intel® Core? i7 2700K 3.50GHz Socket LGA1155 - OEM. * With FREE Battlefield 3 Voucher * (http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/processors/intelcorei3,i5andi71155socket/bx80623i72700koem.html) £251.99
(Upgraded from i5 2500k as it included BF3 which meant it only worked out £20(ish) more).

Mobo: ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) Motherboard (http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/motherboards/intel1155z68chipsetmotherboards/z68extreme3gen3.html) £119.99

HD: Samsung Spin Point F3 SATAII 1TB 32MB Cache Hard Drive <8.9ms 7200rpm - OEM (http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/harddrives-internal/sata500gbto1tb/hd103sj.html) £109.99

RAM: G.Skill RipjawsX 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/memory-pc/ddr3-pc3-12800/1600mhz/f3-12800cl9d-8gbxl.html) £42.98

Case: Antec Three Hundred Case - Black - No Psu (http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/cases/cases/0761345-08300-3.html) £47.99

PSU: Novatech 750W ATX Power Supply for AMD and Intel Motherboards 20Pin + 4Pin (http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/powersupplies/nov-psu750.html) £32.98

Cooler: Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus CPU Cooler (http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/cooling/cpucoolers/rr-b10-212p-gp.html) £25.99

OP: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit DVD - OEM - Service Pack 1 (http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/software/gfc-02050.html) £79.98

GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr II/OC 2048MB GDDR5 (http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/nvidiageforcegraphicscards/nvidiagtx560tifermiseries/n560gtx-titwinfrozrii2gd5.html) £209.99

TOTAL: £921.88

I need to buy a screen as well (lets say around £100) and would like this and the system to come to around the 1k mark (or preferably just less). Are there any suggestions on what can be changed to decrease the price yet keep up the performance? Any suggestions to the build as well will not be ignored! I am considering dropping the cooler as I will not be OC'ing the CPU at this time (don't really think it necessary for what I want).

Also is the graphics cards enough to handle these games on Ultra? I've looked at the new 560Ti 448 and am not sure if they are particularly good (reviews didn't exactly say that they where fantastic) and the factory OC Twin Frozrr seems pretty fast and a capable card.

Again, all comments and suggestions are very much appreciated. I look forward to hearing from everyone!

Hello and welcome :)!

Everything on your list looks good other than the power supply. This is just a generic power supply. So although this is rated at 750watts, the amps that the power supply will provide will not be enough. You will need to go for a branded higher quality power supply. For example http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/powersupplies/nov-psg600.html. Six to seven hundred and fifty watts is recomended. The either graphics card will give you good performance for current games - we do have a GTX 570avalible for around the same money so I would suggest this instead of the newer 560 448 unit. we have a 22" LED for 99.99 http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/monitors/22inchmonitors/nov-h22led.html

Any questions please ask!

If you can confirm your shopping basket to me in a message directly to myself, then I maybe able to assist you a little on price.

I will definitely look at changing the PSU to a branded one! And that screen looks pretty good. Is the motherboard okay considering the fact in an i7 2700k? Also are Novatech able to build this to the above spec and deliver it?

Many thanks for the reply!

Just wanted to say thanks to Butterz and the Nova-Team. PC was ordered on Monday and expecting dispatch by the end of the week. Service so far has been fantastic. To those viewing spec etc, some changes where made to the above:

i7 dropped for i5 2500k
560ti dropped for 570
Changed PSU for branded 750w PSU
Cooler dropped for now (not OC CPU so not yet necessary)

I'm surprised about not overclocking the CPU. The 2500k is an overclockers dream, **** thing can do 5GHz with a good cooler... Well that could be a project for the future.

Overclocking is something I'm looking at doing a little bit down the line. For the moment I'm sure it'll handle pretty much everything I've thrown at it fine! And Novatech threw in an aftermarket cooler (one I linked above) free of charge to sweeten the deal :)
