Is this the laptop drivers CD or Windows XP Recovery?
The laptop drivers will sometimes fail to load if the BIOS has been updated;. You should still be able to load the drivers manually through the 'Device Manager'.

are you doing a fresh install, if so be better to boot from startup, there should be an option on boot, or you might have to go into the bios to ask it to check for boot from cd before it boots from hard drive

I had occasion to use sfc to replace dll files which needs the setup disc. My disc is the original Windows Home OEM & I was told it was the wrong disc. Novatech very kindly sent me a replacement disc wich included SRP2. I was again told by Windows that it was the wrong disc. I know I can re-install but I would prefer to overwrite the existing setup without losing existing data.

would appear to me that and i have heard of this before that you installed using a disc which was not service pack2 included, and now it wants files that are different to the ones ont he new disc u have whihc includes service pack 2, the onyl way you would get round this would be to get hold of a copy of the disc which dont include service pack 2

My original OEM disc did not have SR2. The latest from Novatech does have it included but I get the same message. "Wrong Disc".
