Hi my Geforce4 4200 ti AGP 8x only seems to come up with 3 resolution settings???!!!
i want to buy this monitor http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/spec ... TFT-NOV19W (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?TFT-NOV19W)
but i cnt at the moment because it is not showing the right resolution...
i have updated the drivers to the latest but still it only shows 3 and the max is 1024 by 768
and i would preferably like 1440 by 900
would i need a new graphics card? i dnt think i do because i am sure that i used to have some higher settings than this.

right yep i have just found that out but now i need the resolution 1440 x 900
and i have looked in my settings and i dnt have that...
the nearest i have is 1360 x 768 and then 1600 x 900
i was wondering whether that if i used the 1360 x 768 whether this will lose quality or not work correctly on the new monitor?
and is there a way in how i can enter in new values, where i can add in the resoultiuon 1440 x 900 or do i have to buy a new gfx card?
Thanks

I am very confident that it will work
plug it in and it should by default, choose the default resolution of the new monitor

When you have your new monitor unistall the gfx drivers attach your new monitor and then reinstall the newest drivers for your gfx card and you should find it will give you the option of 1440x900!

Im not sure if his ti4200 will do the 1440x900 res
My FX5200 didnt even support 1680x1050
It is possible that you might need a newer graphics card to support the widescreen resolutions.

I can't resist this "back of a beermat" calculation.
I just happen to have the spec sheet for a 128MB FX5200 here.
Supports 2048X1536.
Therefore a 64MB card will support 1024X1536.
Which, off the top of my head, is greater than 900X1440.
Home and Dry, I think...Cheers!

yes it is a bad pc though i have a good one too!
the bad ones just for messing around with. though the bios is the worst one ever and doesnt let you do ANYTHING.

ok thanks the for the help now everyone but as it now stands as stated in my other topic that i am going to save the money now it looks like and then after xmas probs i will then buy the AMD 6000+ barebones only on the reason that it has SLi which is a bummer. I have looked around and people say that intel processors run around 15% better than all AMD's at the same clock speed.
So if i get the 6000 which runs at 3.0GHz and perhaps overclock a little and new ram will that be just as good as the E6750 or even the E6850????
i really wanna save as much money as possible really and i definetly dont wanna lose the SLi functionality

Not seeing your logic. Every card since about 2000 can support 2048x1536. It was only in the days of S3 Virge when cards would top out at 1600x1200 or not be able to do certain amounts of colours etc.
Your TI probably won't do widescreen resolutions. They didn't really exist when the card was made. Widescreen TFT's are new

Right. My dad has the 22inch novatech (video 7) monitor. Got it for him last year. Didnt even think about it when this thread was started. He can run in widescreen modes
Just replaced his G-Force 2 MX400 with a G-Force 2 MX200 because the other one died. This is when I realised.
So, maybe you need to upgrade your drivers? It did seem odd that video modes would be built into the card.
I think my dads is running on the drivers that are bundled with XP. Date is 2004 and the title has "(Microsoft Corporation)" in the title.
Also the monitor is picked up as plug and play monitor.
