I keep hearing that there are going to be a new generation of Graphics Cards coming out soon so it's best to wait before buying anything too expensive.

I can set aside £200-300 for a decent graphics card - is it worth looking to buy something early in the new year or holding on a little longer? I can make do with my current card for the time being but want to buy a card that will cope with the latest gaming requirements for some time to come.

Thanks

£200-£300 for a gfx card, get a 8800gt 512mb,
if you keep waiting then you will never get anything

There is always something new around the corner my friend. If you wait for the next gen stuff to arrive people will then start saying to wait cause the even newer stuff will be here soon. You will never buy anything.

Its a never ending cycle in the computer world. So in my opinion buy something nice and enjoy !!

Next nvidia refresh is *probably* feb, their last real one was nov 2006, the ultra doesn't count as it was just a faster 8800gtx. Whether you wait or not is up to you, the new range of cards will affect the price of their previous line up but not as much as you would think.

If you must have a new card now, but one from EVGA, but see if you are eligible for their step-up program. Then, you can trade in your card for a new one, and only pay the difference+shipping.

I know I keep going on about this, but it could be handy.

Thanks - will just have a browse for what is currently available. As mentioned in another post I have singled out this particular card for now http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?BFG-88GTXO
