heres the deal i am getting temps of 48 near 50 degrese celcius and im not sure why, are you surposed to remove that sticky thing on the back and if not then is that the problem

on what? I assume that is chipset temps, in which case its normal if you're overclocking.

so the temps on the motherboard is from the chipsets

well nf4sli chipsets do run hot

I assume that you mean the thermal pad from the heatsink fan. You are not supposed to remove this. If you have, not to worry, just make sure you have removed it /all/ and apply a decent thermal grease.

no n no no
on the back of the motherboard there is a pad saying stack cool then saying all of the features, i took it off

If your heatsink fan allows the Stack Cool to remain in place then you should leave it in place. Check that you have a decent thermal compound in place and that it is secured properly.

My 3200+ will not go above 40oC under load with purely passive cooling.

im not talking about the cpu heatsink etc, on the back of the board
there is a rather large pad
blue and white
it has writing on
i removed that
the cpu heatsink is fine

I understand that.

On the back of the board you have a heat distributing plate, the Stack Cool. If you needed to remove this to attach the heatsink on the other side that is fine. If you didn't need to, it fitted in place ok, then this should have been left and will give you lower temperatures.

it isnt a plate, it is a sort of plasticy thing, that is flexible.

A flexible piece of plastic is very unlikely to be related to cooling! (unless it's a piece of hose!)

never mind now, i have found out what the problem was

the south bridge was running very hot and that is where the mobo sensor is, so ive rigged up a fan attatched to my gfx card with plastic cable ties and it has reduced the temp by 13 degrese almost straight away, so i think that if anyone else with this problem should just get a spare fan (mine is 80mm) and just rig it up to point towards the south bridge and it will help with the temps alot.

used to run at 48, now runs at 35

and because a fan is so light it wont affect your gfx card at all,
it even reduced my gfx temps by 5 degrese (<<how do you spell that word)

Good to hear.

Degrees is spelt degrees.

*insert pun re not getting a degree if you can't spell degrees!* :)

This is really annoying me, im trying to overclock my X2 3800 processor on my asus a8n32 sli deluxe and i heard alot of good things about both of these products, reaching really high speeds but................

i cant get it to go through the entire bios with out having to change my settings, i have only been able to get to 2.1ghz, now im not expert but that is only a 10mhz increase on the frequency which is pretty poor seeing that other people are getting up to 2.5>2.7

Im confused why this is, and the temps arent even that high (well to me they arent)

My cpu is idling at 46 @ 2.1 and this is very high seeing that others are getting 19 on stock cooling, im just wondering if i have done something to the cpu when installing it, the heatsink did take some forcing to get it on, would this of crushed the cpu and made it mess up or what.

2.1 Ghz from 2.0Ghz is a 100Mhz increase. It's unlikely that you have damaged the CPU from attaching a heatsink.

If you are not 100% sure with overclocking then I would recommend sticking to the standard settings.

i have done some more research and found out that my memory is holding me back, my memory can only oc up to 230mhz dc and thats with rubbish timings and really high volts, so im gonna get some RAM from N, the ocz 2 x 1GB pc 4000 184pin RAM

you didn't run the memory divider did you...

i dont know how to with this bios
and to be honest i want to get more RAM any way
1gb is too small for the games i play

Thats why you've had such a small overclock - I bet you are maxing out the ram.

A memory divider will lower the speed of the memory, ie a 4/5 divider will run the memory at 200Mhz while the CPU is running at 250Mhz

Two choices really, tight timings and run a divider, or loose timing and no divider - makes burger all difference which you choose at the end of the day.

ive decided to stop the oc until i get my hands on some water cooling , cos temps at moment are about 45 and 50 during hours of gaming

Thats not particularly bad.

it is seeing that most people with the X2 3800 are getting temps alot lower, and my oc'd A3000 @ 2.4 was cooler than this aswell
