IDE RAID Card as IDE Expansion?

Hey all,

Merry Christmas first off :)

I have an old(ish) PC that I want to add a few more HDDs to. I have the drives, 2x 40GB IDE Maxtors. Can an IDE RAID Card be used just to give to more IDE ports, without using the RAID function?

I tired using an IDE card in an old dell just to boost my amount of IDE ports but it wouldnt work, everytime the card was in it would always enter this raid setup program :?

The cards have 2 setups both IDE and SATA ones.

With the software when you install it you either have to install the drivers OR select it in the advanced options when you install it. I spent ages with my SATA and my old IDE card trying to figure it out.
