PROBLEM WITH COD4!!!!!

AHHHHH!!!! just bought COD4 the other day installed fine etc...
single player works fine....
multiplayer on the other hand doesnt even load...
i get an error message saying that *****.exe has stopped working which is obvs the multiplayer cod4!

can anyone help?!!!!

are you running vista becuase if you are multiplayer dosnt work :( i went back to XP mainly just to use COD4 online and it was worth it as you get a performance boost

btw when you download the patches do you go straight to 1.4 or 1.1, 1.2, 1.3...etc?

yep its ridiculous, a new game which is recomended to run on vista and half of it dosnt work, there has only been one patch which is 1.4 as far as I know, try downloading it and running multiplayer again as I never tried multiplayer with patch and vista

ahahhaa i got it working on multiplayer!!!
plugged in a mic (well headphones as i have no mic)
and it works apaz that is the fix and it worked!!!
yipeeeee!

i uninstalled my realtek hd audio drivers rebooted so the vista ones installed automatically....
then i plugged some headphones into the microphone port on the back of my pc and it works!!!
i read loadsa forums for like 2 hours and now got it working yay!

My Cod4 runs perfectly under Vista Ultimate.

The only weird thing i get is that if i start it before i load up ventrilo the mike input in ventrilo doesnt work.

So from that i would assume COD4 must override alot of programs to get its in game voice working..

Oddly if i start Vent first then run COD4 no issues!

i actually have another issue now and that is every now and then i get disconnected from servers and an error comes up saying that the key code is in use!
then after a bit of a wait it works again???!!!
can anyone explain this to me?

well done for getting it working :) go onto options and type in your key there, may help

I get that sometimes in other games.

If you recently left a server, wait about 2-5 mins then join another one.
I found the Key is still registerd as being active in the previous sever, so it thinks the same key is trying to access more than one sever.
