What's the best/safest way to invetigate overclocking this board? With the BIOS options (SuperSpeed) or the Foxconn s/w utility provided on the CD?

My PC-0879T has an Intel 830 Dual COre which has a clockspeed of 3GHz, but I'm disappointed to note that because of Enhanced Speedstep, it spends most of the time running at 2.8MHz. I would like to investigate gentle overclocking to up it to 3.2GHz, so at least it will be running at 3GHz all the time.

Any advice?

I note there is no topic on this forum dedicated to overclocking - would an additional topic be useful to forum users?

I have found that with my experiance in Foxconn boards, that the best way to solve your problem is using the utility in the BIOS. However, the software provided does also give you a few other functions to make sure that you PC will shut down ect if the chip starts to burn up.

I agree it would be handy to have a overclocking topic.

Hope this helps

Has anyone tried overclocking on the Novatech Nero Extreme Pro (PC-0879T) using the Foxconn 945P7AA mobo?

I've tenatively set the BIOS at L1 overclocking and the system seems stable, CPU temp stays <55C when stressing the PC with BITPro v6 runing stress tests. There are three other levels of (increasing) the overclocking (L2 .. L4) - but I'm a bit nervous of setting them! - has anyone tried them out? L1 gives a small boost of speed (to 3.16 GHz from 3.00 GHz) but even this runs mostly at slightly less than 3 GHz because of Intels Enhanced Speedstep technology.
