my friend purchased a bare bones machine from nova tech and is having a few problems.

1. cant play music or sound files, speakers work fine and are connected into the green sound socket but nothing is happening. does the barebones package need a sound card or is it all ready in the package?

2. the ether net port lights up, but when trying to connect to the modem no connection is available to the internet. is a driver needed to make this work? if so where can one be downloaded?

3. what else does the barebones package not have, that a standard pc user would need to get it working like a bought off the shelf pc package?

Any help or advice you can give would be very helpful. i believe the pc barebones package that was purchased was off of the catalogue page 21.

many thanks in advance

in a barebones you only have the case cpu psu ram mobo nothing else you also need for it to run an OS a harddrive and a cd drive. maybe he needs to install drivers check his device manager for more details

Run the disk that came with the bundle, that should sort all your problems out.

hard drive and os has been installed and all working fine.

I think he said the package didn't come with a cd! so how can i get the Ethernet working? and also how do i get the sound to come through?

is there somewhere i can get drivers from?

there should be cd in the package with all the motherboard drivers on it, it the cd wasnt included give novatech a call and explane to them that theres no cd, or the other option is to give us details of the motherboard and we can find a link or two for the downloads you need for the board. but i surgest phoneing novatech first
