Can someone tell me how to use the s-video out function on the Maverick laptops. I have all the cables. I used to use tvtool on an old pc I had. Do i need a program like that??

It should be as simple as connecting the s-video cable and restarting the notebook.

Sorry to be dumb but its unclear from above what exactly needs to happen to get this to work.

I have tried this on two seperate TVs and cables, rebooting makes no effort to show a picture via SVHS. The "Fn" and "CRT" option also does nothing ... any help gratefully received.

Do you have all the VGA drivers and software utility installed?

Possibly not.

The laptop is as delivered "out of the box". I have no CDs relating to display drivers or utilities.

Can you supply more detail ... and a url for download ... I have a Maverick 3000, delivered December '05.

Thanks

Was this computer preinstalled with Windows? If so you probably have the software you need already installed and just need to ensure that it is all setup to output to a screen. The display settings are all managed through the 'Display Properties'>'Settings'>'Advanced' options.

Hi Gwendes

Yes this was the full bundle with XP (Home) pre-installed. Which steps are required once into the "Advanced" options

Thanx

OK ... I have found a CD labelled "NOTEBOOK" and have installed the "VGA Drivers" option which now gives a proprietry utility (the SIS Utility Tray), allowing recognition of the SVHS port.

So far so good ... however :) ... I can only get a black and white picture through the SVHS port, PAL/NTSC makes no difference, neither does 640x480 or 800x600.

Any ideas again gratefully received.

Cheers

how are you connecting to the tv? is it an s-video input or are you using an s-video to scart converter?

i was just speaking to one of my colleagues and he said he has seen a problem like this and it was caused by a faulty s-video to scart converter.

You sure your tv is s-video capable?? Do you have AV2s appear as one of the options when u press the tv remotes av button?

s-video to scart very rarely works (unless you have splashed out on some specialist converter and paid loads of cash for it)

in 99% of the cases you can only get black and white so it sounds like this is your problem

your best bet is to go s-video straight from your computer to the tv
if you dont have an s-video plug on your tv the easiest way is usually to connect the s-video to your dvd and then go scart from dvd to tv

hope that helps

I used s-vid to scart at the weekend, worked fine.
S-Vid to RCA only came out in black and white though.

Then i found a s-video to s-video lead in the back of my TV
