View Full Version : Highly misleading website

Just received a mouse I ordered from the Novatech website last week (was out of stock at the time), to find that it's an OEM model, loose in a jiffy bag, rather than a proper retail one in the original Microsoft packaging!
The website makes no mention at all of this being an OEM product. Ok it doesn't say it's retail either but, in the absence of a comment saying it's OEM, it's totally reasonable to expect a full retail product to be provided.
Not impressed at all - it's going back.

Fair enough but your only going to throw away the packaging 90% of the time and if its retail you would pay more for that ability to throw away some glossy packing.. Its the same product, same drivers and you will recieve the same support from these guys.
Think of the environment... Tomorrows Children... the woodland creatures.. Al Gore!

It was a Microsoft Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 6000
http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/spec ... MS-72Q-000 (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?MS-72Q-000)
To be fair, I'd actually realised earlier this week that it wouldn't be suitable and had already decided to return it immediately under the DSR. This was entirely my fault for not doing my research before ordering.
The fact that an OEM item turned up rather than retail was just the icing on the cake, so to speak, and would have resulted in it being returned had I not already decided to do so.
Regards OEM versus Retail, whether I "need" the packaging or not is irrelevant. Items for sale on this or any other website should be assumed to be full retail products unless explicitly stated otherwise. I am often prepared to pay a little extra for a retail version over an OEM one as I replace my kit quite often and having the original packaging makes it much easier to sell things on when the time comes. Of course, when the premium for retail is large, I'll often take an OEM one to save money but this choice should be left to me, not the retailer.
My main issue is the lack of any mention of the OEM nature on the website. What concerns me is that this may not be an isolated case and I cannot now order anything else from Novatech and be fully confident that I won't receive another OEM product.

Well I'm still waiting for any response to my RMA request on this item, filed last Friday and followed up on Monday.
This complete lack of service is a complete joke tbh.

This topic was to help someone deal with an issue they had with a product they bought from us.
That being said please lets stay on track with the topic starters problem!!
Enough said
p.s. yes I did delete some Post's from this topic because they were not needed and were the start of something not welcome on this forum. Be warned.
see both sides, personally unless it has a lifetime warranty, I don't want the packaging and would rather it was 2 or 3 pints of beer cheaper :)
future reference, would advise bunging the manufacturers prod code into google - seems most are listed as OEM, and on the microsoft site that prod code brings up only one reference, on their oem website.
however I would disagree with the title of highly missleading website, unclear or product missing *** info maybe, but not missleading as no pick of packaging either.

Hah, 'Complete lack of service' :o No way.. LOL I have always been welcomed by the friendly Novatech staff, always helpful, never too much of a bother to bring your items back if you have a problem, I remember when they took in my dads computer even though we didn't buy the entire lot from them, only the Motherboard, CPU, RAM and PSU was from them but they still took the entire lot in and replaced the faulty memory stick within MINUTES! No fuss, do not make them to be bad people ;) Everyone makes mistakes.. we're only human ;)
