I am looking for a replacement cooling fan for a laptop I purchased from Novatech about 3 years ago. The laptop keep over heating, I has cleaned all grills but the problems still persist. I do not have the stock code I don’t seem to be able to view my order history beyond the last two orders, could this be down to a change in credit card?

The only numbers I can find on the laptop that maybe of help are

are you sure its the fan thats causing overheating problem?

I would try and see if you could find a replacement fan from RS components or CPC or similar of the right size.

Yes I am sure its the cooling fan that’s causing the problem, the computer switches of in situations were there is less air flow thought the laptop such as when you have it on your lap. I suspect the fan is spinning too slow and so is not able to provide sufficient air flow over the heat-sink.

There is a solution that I'm not keen on, sitting in a freezing room with no heating on :x

I have already stripped the laptop down for another fault, the PCIMICA slot being faulty, the fan is fastened to the CPU heat sink. The fan has three wires connecting it to the motherboard these are +/- and speed?

I am not keen on the idea of trying to fit a fan that is not at least the same specification as the one that’s in.

This laptop appears to have been bought and re-badged by most computer suppliers around the time I bought mine from Novatech.

Can anyone from Novatech tell me if they can provide this part or some information on where I can obtain. I purchased a replacement battery from Novatech a year ago.

Hi Dave,

I already know the part number of the cooling fan; as I have obtained the service manual from a trade technical forum that I am a member of. For you information the Mitec part number is

340671700016 - Heat Sink Assy; P4 CPU, 8578.

I am going to phone Puma computers up tomorrow and find out the cost of a replacement. If I have no luck I will phone up technical as you suggest.

Thank you for taking you time to reply.
