hiiii
Just wondering if anyone knows of a really good (BEASTTTLY) heatsink and fan for an AMD ATHLON 64 3800+ DUAL CORE CPU, which is seated on an asus a8n32-sli mobo :P
I will be doing a lot of gaming on this baby, so im guessing it will reach pretty high temps. +++++ I may O/C it a tad :P

I have nothing but good things to say about the Thermal Take Sonic Towers. Works fine in my machine, on passive cooling, temperatures are between 29oC/45oC under load. There is an attachment to stick a huge fan on the side if those are too high or you want to overclock.

my x2 3800 has quite high temps, but during gaming it only goes up a couple of degrees celcius

idle 44 C
gaming 46/47 C
but that is with all stock things.
The only way to go is with water cooling, and that should arrive nxt week.

**** thats big :D
I have a Retail Athlon 64 3200+ and using the stock cooler which came with it... Seems great as I get 25 Deg C using light apps Eg Firefox and I just turned Half Life 2 off after 1 hour of straight gaming with all settings on Highest and the temp is 32 Deg C :D.

my old AMD 3000 64 NEWCASTLE, overclocked to 2.5ghz with stock cooling and it was at max 40 DEG C
I'm using the thermaltake golden orb II, its really big so the fan spins nice and slow, very quiet. It's on a 3800+ X2, asus A8N32 deluxe board.
However, looking at your temps, i'm unsure as I idle at around 48' and max out at about 56-58'. I am looking at getting a new case with improved airflow, so maybe I should do that before worrying about the cooler.
As a side note, I got the arctic cooler for my graphics card, nvidia 6800GS. It's much quieter than the stock cooler as expected, and works very well.

I have a ThermalTake Soprano Case and it seems to give Very good airflow. Uses 2x 12CM fans (One on front, one on Back) and one 9cm Fan (On side) all the air comming out the rear is very cold :D.. Plus it has Filters to filter out the dust :)
