For those of you lucky enough to have actually been given Vista SP1 RTM Version at this point. ( This being the proper release and not a beta ) i am interested in your experience of it. What do you find better, worse or still would like to see changed.
For those of you who are waiting for SP1 for Vista it is currently due to go on public release Mid-March.

Hi, I'd love to get Vista SP1 on my laptop, however it keeps refusing to install the security update prior to SP1 that enables an update to Windows Update to allow you to install SP1 - I know quite a few people have had this issue and Microsoft don't seem to have a fix for it currently. I wondered if it had anything to do with driver compatibility on the laptop. I have a Orion Duo T2050 15.4" - Intel Core Duo T2050 1.6Ghz 1024MB DDR2 100Gb SATA HDD DVDRW - Vista Home Premium - purchased in Feb 2007. Are there any driver updates you know of? I don't seem to be able to find any optional updates for it on the Windows Update site.

I know from reading previous things on the update, i rember reading if you had certain programs and im pretty sure one of them was the intelisense touchpad on laptops a particular brand if the driver was detected it would not offer the SP1 the list contains many programs/drivers that will cause the SP1 to not be avaliable. It is published on the MS vista site

SP1 via windows update has been scaled back at the moment due to an on going issue with one of the updates required to be installed before SP1. It has been found that if this security update is installed at the same time as some of the other updates it causes windows to get caught in an update loop.
Installing this update on its own resolves the problem allowing things to continue.
Also due to windows update server roll out, you may not get offered SP1 straight away via windows update. Obiously if they did offer it to every client at the same time it would cause a huge load on the updates servers so it is rolling out to customers gradually.
Should you want it now however you can get it here

However this is the full package and is much bigger than the version that will come via windows update as that will detect already installed patches to reduce file size =)

Yes after Microsoft fixed there update problem with a "pre" "pre" update they are now back on for rolling out SP1 on windows update. So more people should be seeing this now.
