Dodgy Ram?

Had trouble with my PC for awhile. Applications crashing, blue screens of death and then feilure to install windows... Sent it away to a PC guy in nearest town and he finally found the blame in a stick of ram I bought recently as a pair from Novatech. 400MHZ 1GB 184 PIN DDR

So I had two of those, but one of them had to be removed which kind of sucks... But does this just happen from time to time? If I buy a new one of the same specifications work well? I'm a bit worried now about buying new stuff for my desktop.

u should have taen it to novatech in the first place i think, i had a dodgey stick of ram and they replaced it for me
