Hello, I feel like a complete fool... I have lost the key for my computer. I changed the case over in to a mATX case due to not needing such a big one any more as I only have an mATX motherboard any way, so what is the point in wasting space?... Right, well.. I have lost the peice of paper which has that key on and I cannot (obviously) perform a complete reinstall any more! Oh my God.. I do not want to purchase another copy of Windows! Any suggestions?!

But what if the loss was not discovered until after an install and hence format had been started?

the only solution would be to purchase a new license.

I presume that is as expensive as buying the whole thing

Yes, basically buying a new CD is what you would have to do.

Trust me, the dead silence that you have from a customer when you say that over the phone is quality!

Then you are a bit of a ******.

Good thing you are also totally WRONG. Microsoft Customer Services gave me a new one over the phone.

Thanks for all your help and encouragement guys.

Don't think I'll bother coming back here again
