I bought a whole set of these ink carts for my R220, which is only six months old, and they have recked it beyond use!! I followed the on screen instructions to the letter, and the printer did not recogise half of them, I found out that some of them were 4mm smaller than the original Epson carts, so i had to add masking tape to get them to fit, then after 2 hours of messing about, it would only print Magenta, Light Magenta and Yellow, I have done 20 plus head cleans to no avail, same result, i have even waited 24 hours and tried onca again, still no joy, so I now have a non working £80 printer that I am going to chuck away, VERY, VERY, VERY Pissed Off, DO NOT BUY, Stick to Epson Branded at least then you would have been able to claim on warrenty. Which model cartridge did you buy from us, stock codes if you can. These cartridges should have fitted correctly and not required modification.

Using the catalogue number of the first one in the list:

C13T048140

The product page states:

This Product is suitable for use in Epson Styles Photo RX500/R300/R300m printers.

Surely that makes them unsuitable for the R220 ?

Also...Never ever buy compatible carts, you get what you pay for ;)

Surely that makes them unsuitable for the R220?

I have spoken to a number of people with cartridges they thought were incompatible. We replaced and the replacements worked with no problems. Some printers do seem to have more of a problem with compatibles than others.

Just an observation from me - I've got a Canon Pixma 4000.

And.......... a HP LaserJet 4L from 1996, still going strong.

Well Kremen, just a response to you, I checked on the wesite at Novatech and the cartridges are the correct ones, that is why I bought them!

As far as other people having problems and getting a set of suitable replcements, I bought one Epson original Yellow to test and this did work, but I did not want to go to the expense of buying a complete set of Epson ink carts, to find the Novatech carts ****ed up my machine, then not only would I have paid for a complete set of Novatech carts, I would have to pay for a complete set of Epson carts, I am just very anoyed and stuck in a quandry. If any one can offer me a re-sonable solution, I would listen, (and if you say I should have bought originals in the first place I know this already).

This is going to sound like a stupid question, but are the new replacement cartridges physically identical to the ones taken out?

Well I have bought another EPSON cart for the black, and I get perfect prints again, so the lesson here is do not buy cheap and shoddy carts if you want good print outs, I am going to send the Novatech carts back with rather a heated letter telling them what I think of their carts, and hopefully the good people at Novatech will give me my money back on the **** carts.

Wife just saw me browsing here and started cursing about the replacement carts she bought, for an epson r200. They were for her school, otherwise I would of noticed/posted sooner - should anyone get a chance, can you test them out on these series printers please - hers just do not work at all, she bought black and colours - the epson ones she bough from pc *cough* world are working fine. May be a problem on this series cart.

Im having a simular problem with the the compatiable carts i bought from novatech for my R220! I installed them and they worked fine for 1 day, but now i get error message telling me they are not authentic epson carts and i need to change them. I thought i had got a bargin with these but obviously they are useless lol. Everytime i try to print i get a red light pop up and it tells me i need to change the carts. If there is a way around this someone please let me know! i have dvds i need to print:)

I'm wondering if its just a 200/220 series problem.

My understanding is that the r220 uses the same cartridges as the r200/r300 printers, secondly i have to admit these cartridges are bad, I ordered 3 sets for my r300 and just finishing 1st set, all used and printed fine although little bit tighter than originals, just picked up second set to be ready for when run out and found that 4 of the six have leaked in envelopes and on one the chip(?)Connection board has dropped out, incidently it looks like these cartridges are not actually chipped but the connections are simply bridged, I for one will not order any more

These cartridges are useless, bought 2 sets for r300,6 were leaking on receipt, then had printer not recognising and refused to work, until refit 6 times, just replaced two of final set and found these had leaked in printer, print monitor registers full but in fact were empty, anybody who buys these can look forward to heaps of problems
