My BB bundle has been up and running for a few days now "very pleased with it, a lot faster then my P4 system", so now i want to make full C: partition backups (software is Acronis), i have partitioned my HDD in to 3 and could backup to partition D: or E: but this defeats the object if the system crashes, so i would like to buy a external HDD from Novatech around 500GB any suggestions from users please as to what one ?

hello dude welcome to nova :D

compared to others this would be the bees knees on the 500GB marker, 16MB buffer compared to the others around 8

this is usb 2.0 or usb 1.1, please state if you have an eSata port on your pc because if so it will keep some strain off the usb hub and also it will be faster

if you have a local network and are after a harddrive for every one to use (Good for media sharing across the house with out sending it from IP to IP)

good 4 movie hosts etc

if i had the money, i would host this downstairs so my movies can be played on my 360 while my pc off.

another option if your purely after hardwired storage, is the netgear SC101T, which can hold upto 2 SATA hard drives, in any sizes.

Quite an expensive option but because you can hardwire it via the gigabit network port, its simple to connect to your existing router and access from there.

For the drives, simply pick a matched pair of any brand and size, install and use the config wizard to set it up.

Its a medium price unit @ £101.58 with the added cost of the drives you want to add on top of the cost.
The unit uses 1 drive for the actual saving but will set up a mirrored array to give you a redundant backup in the event of a drive failing.

Or you can buy it with a pre-installed set of disks in either 500gb or 1tb

Im currently looking at the 1tb one to replace the old maxtor personal storage 3200 of mine that died recently (taking everything with it), the NGR-SCT1T(novatech order code) @ £193.88
