Not possible to keep your data on 1 of the hdd's as the raided hdd's need to be formatted as 1. You also will need a floppy drive and right the raid drivers from your mobo installation disc to the floppy when you have done all this come bk lol. Also what mobo and chipset is it?

The floppy depends if its xp or vista. XP you needs the floppy as it requires raid drivers but vista doesnt.

yep you can use a usb stick to install drivers under vista, but its only necessary if you don't install to a raid controller that isn't supported natively, but unfortunately thats most of them :( same applies to XP, but thats nearly all, rather than just 'most' :(

And re keeping your data, yep its possible, but only if you're willing to shell out a good wedge of money for a decent hardware raid controller then get it to rebuild itself into whichever config you want.

If you're planning to use any onboard raid controller, get yourself a USB hard drive, or caddy or similar and backup to that first.
