both HDD's working fine? and all sata conecters working fine? apart from that the only thing i can think of is something screwed up the raid set up when you re-installed, so may be worth checking the raid set up in bios just in case it went wronky on you m8

maybe worth try resetting bios to defaults

then resetting up the raid in bios and resetting the array

Are both disks formatted fully? Some old data on there maybe confusing the system.

Yes did a full format then at 100% it errored saying it couldnt format the discs as they were faulty, but as single drives they both come back as healthyand no problems. Odd to say the least.

Does sound a bit strange.

Are these the Seagates or the WDs?

Tried the manf tools for the drive?

Right got them going again, went through and deleted the everything connected to the raid system and started from scratch again, and this time it worked, baring in mind i had done all that b4 also, very hit and miss isnt it. I wonder what could cause such erratic behaviour
