Windows XP Pro Service + Pack III

Is there any indication of the date by when Win XPP inc SPIII will be available as on OEM product?

I know I can download SPIII & create a slipstreamed version, but due to BT's total incompetence my broadband connection is no fast than dial-up, and connections are dropped frequently.

Bearing in mind that Microsoft will cease shipping XP Pro on, I believe, 30th June 2008 will Windows XP Pro Service + Pack III be available as an OEM (or retail) product.

I want to but at least one copy for a new PC, as I don't want to be forced to use Vista, and may well buy a second copy to remain on the safe side.

i have never thought about buying another XP , but at the moment it looks like im gonna see how my installation works on new harddrive, ive got vista ultimate too but i do wish to stay on xp (got vista ultimate for free btw)

The only information i have right now is that they are continuing with SP2 Install media. There is no current plan or date to release an SP3 version of the Media. Thats not to say they won't be, but they have not told us when they intend to do it.
Considering that yes EOL on media is coming soon for XP i am not sure if SP3 Media will ever be made but its down to MS to say for sure.

Time is marching by and the EoL date approaches, at the end of this month I believe?

Could you raise the issue with Microsoft please - I am sure that there is a large market for SP3 Media; I will certainly buy a couple of copies when it becomes available.

It would appear from http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/06/09/windows_xp_dell_second_reprieve/ that MS are weakening on their stance to withdraw XP at the end of this month, which is good news.

Better news would be an indication of when XPP OEM SPIII licences will be available. I would like to place an order now, but presumably you still don't know whether and when it will ship.

a mate of mine who works as a contracter for MS told me that the plans to scap XP are now out of the window, probaly due to the amount of people that still use XP and are reluctent to switch to vista

At the moment there is no indication of MS producing Media with SP3 intergrated.

They are continuing at this time to ship SP2 Media with customer required to do SP3 update afterwards.

Not exactly. The problem was not SP3 but actually how some OEM's preload there OS. Because of something they did which they should'nt have when SP3 was loaded on there systems it had conflict with item that should not have been there on AMD CPU system. Microsoft is working with those OEM's to make a patch to fix the problem before customer can install SP3

Novatech Preload of Windows XP was not affected by this issue =)

Straight clean install of Windows XP from CD will have no issue.

I have read conflicting reports recently.
