I have been advised around 2 hours by one of our notebook engineers. It is of course dependant what the notebook is used for.

I knew there was a catch, the rest of your specs blow away dell, toshiba etc for the price, but the new sonys and toshibas have 5hour +

The manufacturer quoted battery life will not be based on real world usage. Testing would be under controlled, low or no usage. It is advisable to compare the specification based on independant reviews.

actually it was mobile mark that gave it a rating of 5 hours for the sony machine I was quoting

I've managed to find the scores for this computer... better than we thought.

click here (http://www.reportlabs.com/testbed/version1/nbv1/detnb.php?rcnb=76)

Best time was 238 minutes - just shy of 4 hours.

so your systems are made by rock direct?

also if your engineer qouted 2hr and the pc mark says 4 hours then its likely your engineer qouted at 100% cpu

The notebook is a Uniwill chassis. They make notebooks that Novatech, Rock and other companies rebrand. Compare the MobileMark scores to the other notebooks on that website for an independant review.

My nomad last's around 3 hours when doing light applications.

I can take it out in the morning and as long as i put it in standby when not using it, it will still have power in it by the end of the day.

My dad has a dell.
1 word for it.......rubbish. The mouse pad is so laggy and unresponsive, and it's ugly, bulky and tacky.
And the battery times they give on dells are always made to look good. It's called marketing ;)

You have a dou Core nomad?

I am really tempted by this notebook my current Laptop is a HP DV1049, 1.4Ghz Dothan. My only issue is I have seen a review of the rock direct version of this notebook and it said the build quality was ****, they also said it felt flimsy and the keyboards was upto some of the Big Brands models.

Im currently using the extended battery with my DV1049 it gives me 5-6 hours while browsing etc, so 3 hours is a little poor, is there an extended battery for the nomad?

my Ideal Notebook right now would be a 14" or 13" with an Nvidia 7600 and a dou 1.8 with the ability to turn the gfx off and get 3-4 hours out of the battery

just seen a review of this in PC Plus (Rock 330)
Basically they said it looks cheap and ordinary but performs better then its more expensive rivals for what you pay.

I just wish Novatech would bring a sub 15 out with a go force 7600
