Does DVI input really make a difference to picture quality on TFT monitors?

Yes it does make a difference. If you have a TFT screen that support a DVI input and your graphics card supports DVI out then it is best to connect them this way.
Images are normally much sharper / Better quality and there is less signal loss.

I always found with an analogue connection that I was forever having to calibrate the monitor with it's 'auto tune' button as it tended to 'drift'.
Under DVI, the graphics card controls this aspect (amongst others) and this auto tune feature is quite rightly 'greyed out'.
DVI is definately superior.
I don't really notice a lot of difference between the analogue input and DVI input on my monitor tbh...
But now you mention it, i've never had to 'adjust' the monitor...

I think i'd need a new set of eyes before i'd see the difference.
I personally find quite a few changes related to digital worse.
*cough* digital tv.
Im pretty sure what you see on your screen is analogue, so it's just converted back in the end surely. Not done much research on the technology myself, but i've never had any problems with the old analogue vga connection.
I think it might just be implemented for easy transfer of digital signal between devices such as video camcorders etc

The final result on a DVI panel is digital. True digital output to a DVI panel should give you a noticably clearer display.
