Right as the title states does anybody out there amongst you have a spare tower for sale (apologise to mods if this is in the wrong section)
(i would the system through nova however the budget i've been allocated can't quite stretch to what is required)
here's the details i've been given of what to ask for:

(1)AMD Athlon X2 Dual core min of 5200 if possible
something in the region of 2.6ghz (he's been looking at the nova catologue)

(2) basic graphics card as no gaming, min of 2 USB2 ports please

(3) 200GB hard drive is ample (less for the right priced system)

(4) XP PRO please NOT vista

Lastly this is not for me but a relative & it needs to plug straight in to modem & go as the person is not computer minded at all, so if anyone has anything CLOSE to the above specifications then please PM me as CASH waiting & local portsmouth if possible

BUDGET 250 pounds (please don't laugh  as he wants to go rip off world otherwise)
Hopefully someone on here might be able to help???

how do you feel about a barebones system, that way you just need to add in the graphics card hard drive cd drive and install windows

Will be pushing it with XP Pro. Just looked and the cheapest barebones is £140 and with pro thats nearly £250.

Be lucky its like a new system for less than the cost of the parts, gonna have to lower his expectations or up his budget. Need a a true 2nd hand machine not a new 1 for 2nd hand prices.

Thanks for the replies guys, ref Ebay, i have thought about that but to be honest i'm very dubious/conerned going down that road, the spec does'nt have to exaxt, the barebones yeah i've looked at but i was hoping someone might have a spare tower/system close to the spec he's looking 4,.thats why i thought i might try here first???

it does'nt have to be xp pro can be home

he's upped the budget to 300

basically he's after no frills/nothing fancy tower, min 2gb ram, roughly 2.6 ghz, roughly 200gb H/D

relatives can be so demanding sometimes even with help & advice given

i've got a couple of weeks yet before he decides just to pop into Novatech & drag me along, he'll stress the Staff out big time with his demands & low budget  ah well i'll just have to wait n see what he says

well if he aleady has a screen and is happy with Xp home he could always opt for this one http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/spec ... ml?PC-1141 (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?PC-1141)
meets most of his demands, but is only an AMD 64 4600X2 but has the ram and HDD he wants

I might have something for you, don't laugh guys.. it is all my old stuff :D

Processor: Intel Celeron 2.8GHz
Motherboard: Asus P5E-VM
RAM: 1GB DDR400
Graphics: ATI Radeon 9600 256MB
Hard drive: Samsung 80GB
DVD: Samsung DVD ROM
WINDOWS XP PRO

Have a little think on what you think that would be good for, bear in mind that I got to get a case for it, as the current one I have is too big and will look stupid, the case + PSU is around £25 so that will add to the price, sorry but you will have to pay for it, I don't mind dropping the price of the other stuff a bit :) So, what do you think for that, it is an all right system for what I think your relatives are going to be using it for. If you have MSN, add me and we can discuss this further.
