Hey guys, im ready to OC my cpu now, but i need pointing in the right direction. e.g what do i need to put up, what should i start at, what am i aiming for etc.
im aware that gettin over 3ghz isnt going to happen without water, thats fine.
Also ive got 4 gig of ram, what should my memory timings be? 4-4-4-12?

Its not gonna happen then, aibooster will get u to 2.7ghz or something but no further and not thru the bios, 1303 is the only bios that will allow 3ghz on q6600

This is what my uncle had things set to in AI booster:
CPU 115% (anymore and pc crashed)
ram 4-4-4-12
ram volts 2.2

what ya think?

Depends on what ram you got buddy. Well i dont know how stable booster will be and it will only go to 2.7 if your lucky so not sure its even worth it tbh.

4-4-4-12 is very tight to start. Try 5-5-5-18 or 6-6-6-24, memory:cpu ratio 1:1 and link memory to CPU speed.

It can be tweaked later. Don't see any need to up voltages at this stage.

read the one above yours johny. got it to 2.8 Ooh lol, that is lucky wont get it any further though and using software to overclock is the most unstable way of doing it, but try by all means and let us know how u get on. But i never used booster so i am no use too you on that 1. but if it wont go any further than 115% then thats your lot. If your timings work at 4 4 4 12 then nice especially 4g, remember even though they are working now, the striker memory controller doesnt like 4g if u have 4x1g modules. Mine killed my striker in the end and the ram. God i dont envy you and that board at all with a quad.

What ram is it?

Jonny, I know we've been through this all before...I was just reading newegg reviews of that board:

Other Thoughts: I've got 30 years of electronics experience of all kinds and have built hundreds of computers for customers. I wouldn't wish this m/b on anyone. Unfortunately there is no refund. Who would have thought this m/b was such a piece of junk. Hopefully they have enough of these things so that I might get a good one.
eep, listen to Jonny. Try this O/C with just two RAM sticks. You're less likely to fry the memory controller and RAM taht way. That board is a nightmare! :P

If it was me with that setup u have buddy i wouldnt be overclocking it at all, or finding a buyer for the q6600 and putting a dualcore in there as those boards love dualcore and will overclock like a dream with a dual in it. That would be the only 2 options i would suggest.

The overclocking on this board is all about heat...

Someone I know had aftermarket coolers on the whole board, they got 1400mhz fsb easy, without ramming up all the voltage. Thats why Jonny did so well, hes got nice low temps, whereas myn, with the gtx right above it and 5 hard disks got realy toasty and died :(
