Some customers may experience a problem when using the in built Digital TV Tuner in the Novatech 32" LCD TV ( NOV-Q321) The problem is that when changing channels the subtitle selection defaults to being on.

A firmware has been released to address this issue.
If your TV is already running V3.12 or higher you will not require this update.
Please download and decompress the following file.

http://forum.novatech.co.uk/files/LCD321.rar

***NOTE***

Please carefully read the PDF file which details instructions on how to update firmware in the TV. A Serial ( RS232 ) connection between a PC and the TV will be required to perform this task.

NOV-Q321 ... how do I determine my firmware revision?

Go into the main menu then 'Settings' (a spanner)
Right at the bottom is an option 'Factory Settings' - highlight this and it will give you the version.

No i am very sorry the in built DTV tuner can only be updated via the RS232 Port. Hyundai have provided no alternative method for doing this update

found some new cables on ebay for pennies, so ordered them. Is this a fairly safe update, are there anythings we have to watch? i would hate to wreck the TV, just that in the distant past i lost a motherboard and graphics card after not shutting down properly when flashing the BIOS, and more recently nearly lost a Motherboard by flashing with the wrong BIOS update (i managed to get a new chip to replace the messed up one).

cheers

I have downloaded the update for the subtitles, however when I try and perform the update, I get the "Waiting message form STB!!!" and "Connecting OK for STB!!!". However when I turn the set on I do not get the "send data packet !!!" message. Does the com port on the downloader have any effect on the update. My laptop uses Comm 4.

Any idea of the settings for the com port, if I set the downloader to com4 on my laptop I get the "send data packet!!!" message, I then get a message "Send packet but can't receiver ack!!!". I am set to 9600 8-1-n. If I look at the com port via Procomm, I am receiving data from the tv, but, what emulation it requires is difficult to find. Is it my lead or speed or both. Nay ideas would be helpful.

I have this issue on a Q421H.

Does anyone know if I can use the same firmware?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I also have same problems as Q321 happening on the Q421H.

- Subtitles always on in digital mode.
- Digital tuner sound out of sync with picture.

The firmware version is 3.09. Can Q321 firmware upgrade be used
with Q421H or is there a seperate firmware upgrade available?

TIA

Kenny

Hi I also have the same problem with the HYD-Q421H. I called Novatech Help Desk who gave me a phone number which was incorrect. The correct number is 0871 855 3171. Having spoken to Repairtech I'm told that they are not aware of any issues with this model. I informed them that there were two others on this forum with the same problem. What I am required to do is send the unit to them in the original packaging, they will have it for 12 - 14 working days to sort out the problem. Nice Service for a firmware upgrade. THERE is NO firmware fix. I am going to hold onto it until the have.

They are looking into it.

Cheers

Thanks for the info Scratchy. I have been following the posts in AV forum relating to the Q321 problems. It is quite obvious that the exact same issues troubling the Q321 are present on the Q421H but so far the Hyundai guys and Repairtech have not aknowledged this. It would serve them well to address these issues together.

I will wait in the meantime for updates from Repairtech/Hyundai.

......at least 'till the world cup is over ;)
