Hi, I recently purchased one of these (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?NGR-RND450) assuming that it will have a 5 year warranty. Afterall, it says 5 years on the NetGear website, on numerous other websites and even on the box (which also states, "see the enclosed documentation for details")! But the enclosed documentation / actual warranty card in the box states a one-year (Infrant) warranty!

Ok, so NetGear have rebadged (taken over?) the original Infrant product and in July/August 2007 increased the warranty from 1 to 5 years. So, the documentation in the box is just old documentation I guess?! I should be able to clarify this pretty quickly with a call to support and get it sorted - I would have thought?! Hhhmmm... well, it's been a week and so far nothing!

- Tried to email support, having completed the form online. No response at all.

- Tried live support. They tried to find out, but couldn't. They then said they would phone me back when they had an answer. That was 5 days ago. No one has called me back.

- Phoned and spoke to the Manager at the store I bought the product from. He didn't know, but ensured me someone would phone me back Monday with a response. That was yesterday. No response.

Like I say, I would have thought this was quite an easy one? I can find my own answers online (http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=15948), but I would very much like this clarified by the bods at Novatech - from where I bought it.

There's obviously a big difference between a 1 year and a 5 year warranty - I don't want to find that if I have a problem in a years time I'm out of warranty just because the documentation in the box was out of date when I bought it! Afterall, the written evidence... the actual warranty card / documentation that I can physically hold in my hand states just a 1 year warranty.

Should I have (do I need) a revised warranty card / documentation?

Thanks.

Dear Penders,

We have contacted Netgear directly for clarification on this and been told that it does indeed have a 5 year return to base warranty.

Thanks

Many thanks for your quick response - I feel much better.

So, do I assume I don't need an up-to-date warranty card? Is my receipt, showing date of purchase, sufficient?

Yes your invoice is all you will need, the warranty card in the box is obselete as the warranty is now with netgear directly.
