I’m not sure this is the correct board but no doubt it will be moved if I am wrong.

On the “Advice please on barebones/bundles” thread the following link was put forward by Jonny. http://www.nordichardware.com/Guides/?skrivelse=432
It was on this site that I came across the Sunbeam 20-in-1 Superior Panel, which I like the look of. However, on a Google search, there appears to be no interest on UK sites.

As I am now getting on a bit (50), the thought of useful items on the front panel is appealing but would this be a case of having gadgets for gadgets sake, especially as it adds to the cabling in the case?

Your observations would be most welcome.

John

It depends really, do you have a digital camera where you take out the memory stick to put your photo's on to your computer or do you just plug it in via the USB cable? I don't think you need it to be honest with you as most of the camera's can just be plugged in through the USB ports, and yeah it looks like your machine has a bit more but you really do not need it.

I use this Novatech card reader for my camera SD card:

Presumably it has been updated to support SDHC cards above 2GB. Just plugs into a spare USB header on the mobo. I find it useful. :D

See now 7.. I wouldn't even bother with one of those if I was you :P

We both have front USB's, what else could you ask for? All you got to do is get the cable for the camera (which I always have in my draw or in my dads draw so it's easy to find!) and plug it in, and away you go. No need to take out the memory card all the time :)

I do indeed have a digital camera, but I always use the USB lead to connect and transfer images to my PC.

The new case recommended to me is the Coolermaster Elite 330, which has 2 USB ports in the front panel so I am inclined to think that the Sunbeam panel is not required. It just looked good especially with the fan controller and temperature monitor displays.

Ahhh, how little you know, grasshopper...

Firstly, removing the card allows me to transfer images without wasting the camera battery. Secondly, you can boot Linux from an SD card. Or use it as a storage drive. Way Cool. 8)

Okay buddy I see your point but it doesn't actually waste that much battery! My camera keeps the screen turned off so it uses minimal power, the only thing it actually powers is the memory card and the little chip inside.

I don't need it becuase I don't need to run Linux to be honest, what is so good about it any ways?
