After much grief, i finally managed to update my Vista OEM to SP1.

On the next reboot, MS informs me that I need to activate - I try, but it reports the product key as invalid.

All I can do is purchase a new key - any other option logs me off my system.

Your literature states that this product will Activate.

As far as I am concerned, you are in breach of the trade description act. it will cost me an additional £69.48 to get a new activation key.

i shall be claiming this from Novatech
I shall be reporting Novatech to Microsoft for piracy and i shall be suing for distress and wasted effort

As I said in with your other post, nothing in my dealings with Novatech has ever suggested to me that they are crooks, my friend.

Get in touch with them and sort it out! :P

Have you tried to contact Microsoft about your activation problem. Ie calling one of their free numbers
There have been many reported cases where the serial for some reason becomes invalid and this is a Microsoft problem and as stated above you should call them.

Novatech do NOT pirate software and therefore are under no fault.

You also might want to call Novatech about this problem by phone or going in store with your PC so they can help.

lol, sorry but have you tried sorting out the problem before reaching for your lawyers?!?

Has your computer got a CoA sticker on it? thats Microsofts Certificate of Authenticity, if it has, and it's correct for the installed OS, you are 100% legal. SP1 for vista did catch out a few codes from what I remember.

However, rather than calling Novatech, you may find it's faster to deal with Microsoft, they have an 0800 activation number, all the above means is that for some reason your computer thinks it isn't correctly activated. SP1 did change (or was due to change) the grace period allowance, but you would of had a pop up. I've had to phone microsoft up before to reactivate, it's a few minutes. and i've also had a computer force itself into the state yours is in due to a power cut, that reset the bios, sending the date way off, by about 20 years...

I think you'll find this is relatively common and is not a problem to sort out.
