Having built a new system I have no audio playback sound. The motherboard is an MSI NEO2-FR P35 with the Realtek ALC888 onboard sound. When installing the motherboard chipset drivers I installed the Realtek High Definition Audio driver which installed the Realtek HD Audio Manager, which sits in the System Tray. Then when I installed the drivers for the ATI Radeon 3870 graphics card, it installed the ATI Function Driver for High Definition Audio.
When I plugged in my headphones (with microphone) into the front panel, the jack auto-sensing picked them up but when I played a music track there was no sound. Opening the Realtek HD Audio Manager, when selecting headphones in the Audio I/O tab, it played the demo sounds in each ear in turn (nothing wrong with the headphones).
The default settings in the Sounds and Audio Devices area of the Control Panel are:
Sounds tab
Sound scheme: Windows default
Audio tab
Sound playback: ATI HD Audio rear output
Sound recording: Realtek HD Audio input
MIDI music playback: Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth
Voice tab
Voice playback: ATI HD Audio rear output
Voice recording: Realtek HD Audio input
I presume that I have a conflict in the above and hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.
Thanks
John
